Moby's Day Volunteering with the Community Kitchen Program

Zoe W.December 8, 2025

This past November, members of the Moby team spent the afternoon volunteering with the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary, helping pack Good Food Boxes filled with fresh fruits and vegetables for families across the city. With 1 in 3 Alberta households experiencing food insecurity, ensuring access to affordable, nutritious food is more important than ever.

At Moby, Calgary isn't just our headquarters — it's where our story began and where our team lives. We're deeply connected to this city, and we feel a responsibility to support the people who make it home.

The Importance of the Community Kitchen Program

The Community Kitchen Program of Calgary is built on a simple belief: every Calgarian should have access to nutritious food and the skills to prepare it. Their programs empower individuals and families with practical knowledge — from stretching a grocery budget and reading nutrition labels to preparing healthy meals and maintaining a safe kitchen.

A cornerstone initiative is the Good Food Box (GFB) Program, which provides affordable boxes of fresh produce to anyone in the city. Volunteers help assemble each box, ensuring families can enjoy healthy meals without added financial strain.

In a city facing growing challenges around poverty and food insecurity, Community Kitchen plays an essential role in supporting households year-round — especially during the holiday season, when demand increases.

Closing Thoughts

Volunteering with Community Kitchen reminded us that small actions can create meaningful impact. A few hours of teamwork helped prepare nutritious food for families, seniors, and individuals across the city — and reinforced why giving back matters.

We're grateful to Community Kitchen for the work they do every day, for their dedicated volunteers, and for the opportunity to support their mission. As Moby continues to grow, so will our commitment to strengthening the community we're proud to call home.
